Breathing Buddies: a mindfulness tool for feeling calm and comforted.

  1. Cut out your chosen breathing buddy.

  2. Colour in (optional)

  3. When your child is lying down, place the breathing buddy on their tummy.

  4. Invite your child to breathe in deeply (diaphragmatic breathing) all the way into their tummies and exhale slowly and steadily (if done correctly, the breathing buddy will rise as they inhale and fall as they exhale).

  5. Repeat x5 (or more)

Breathing buddies can be taken anywhere! When lying down is not an option, simply place the breathing buddy in between hands and breathe in and out deeply.
